World Boxing Council super middleweight champion David ‘Red Flag’ Benavidez, looks set to defend his crown against Anthony Dirrell, on September 8 in New York.
Benavidez (20-0, 17 KOs) comes from defending his crown against Ronald Gavril, in a rematch fight that he totally dominated.
For his part Anthony Dirrell (32-1-1, 24 KOs), comes from winning in El Paso, Texas, against local Abraham Han, via a broad unanimous decision.
David became the youngest super middleweight champion in history, at the age of 20, 8 months and 19 days of age.
Anthony was super middleweight champion of the WBC in August 2014, after defeating Sakio Bika by unanimous decision after a previous draw. Later, Anthony lost a decision against Sweden`s Badou Jack. Since then, he has won five fights, the most important of which was against Caleb Truax.
