David Benavidez will contest the World Boxing Council super middleweight championship against NABF champion Romanian Ronald Gavril on Sept. 8 in Los Angeles, California.
David fought four times in 2016 and won all of them by knockout. For his part Gavril comes from a consecutive streak of seven victories with four knockouts.
Benavidez, who was originally scheduled to face former champion Anthony Dirrell until he suffered an injury, successfully presented the WBC pre weigh-in, reporting 175.2 pounds.
“I’m excited. My goal is always to win, and the opportunity of conquering the WBC title comes at an excellent time in my career. I’m sure I’ll get the win, “said the 168-pound green and gold crown contender.
