Undefeated two-time former WBC super-middleweight champion, the David “Red Flag” Benavidez, will face the former world champion, José Uzcategui from Venezuela, in a super middleweight eliminatory fight of the World Boxing Council, on Saturday, August 28, at the Phoenix Suns Arena, Arizona.
Benavidez full well knows the importance of this fight and the necessity of going through a fabulous training camp leading up to it.
This will be the second fight back for Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) since he lost the WBC 168-pound world title on the scales in August of last year. In his most recent bout, Benavidez defeated American Ronald Ellis by TKO in the eleventh round last March in Uncasville, Connecticut.
José Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KOs) reigned as IBF super middleweight champion, since March 2018, when he defeated former champion Anthony Dirrell, before losing by decision, to current champion Caleb Plant in 2019. In His most recent fight, Uzcategui defeated Mexican Jaime Hernández by knockout in the second round last June.
It`s promoted by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), will be broadcast on Showtime.
