World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt (31-1, 28 KOs) knows that the former champion and his rival, Japan’s Takashi Miura (31-3-2, 24 KOs), will be a difficult test.
The Mexican will make the first defense of his crown on July 15 at the Inglewood, California Forum, against the tough Japanese fighter, who is ranked 1 in the division.
“There are several champions in the division … Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, Jezreel Corrales, but I have to respect my opponent, first I have to beat Miura and then I will defeat the others. I think I have the physical strength and ability to defeat all fighters in my division. That’s why I am the green and gold champion, the most prestigious body. ”
Takashi lost the title against Francisco Vargas on November 21, 2015 and Berchelt dethroned Vargas on January 28 of this year. Although Berchelt is favorite to take the win, he knows that anything could happen inside the ring.
