World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Miguel Alacian Berchelt knows that former champion and current challenger, Japan’s Takashi Miura will be a test of fire demanding ingenuity.
The Mexican will make the first defense of his crown on July 15 at the Forum of Inglewood, California, against the battle hardened number one in the WBC rankings..
“There are several champions in the division… Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, Jezreel Corrales, but I have to respect my opponent. First I have to beat Miura and after that they come by themselves. We are free to listen offers.”
Takashi lost the title to Francisco Vargas on November 21, 2015 and Berchelt dethroned the then-champion on January 28. Although he`s considered the favourite for this one, he knows that anything could, can and tends to happen in the ring.
“We are in the strong stage of my preparation, almost a month from the fight. We are checking and ticking the and factors to be very physically strong,” said Berchelt.
