BINATIONAL BOXING CLINICS FOR THE YOUTH IN ACAPULCO

Acapulco, Guerrero. August 17, 2016. Towards the release of the “Boxing without Frontiers: Two Nations, One Dream” Program  by the Foreign Relations Secretary in association with the World Boxing Council, it was presented by the Guerrero Champions, David Diaz and Marcos Villasana, at the Renacimiento Neighborhood in Acapulco, Guerrero, a boxing clinic and a conditioning workshop.

The goal of the clinic is to present Guerrero´s youth with this program, which will be simultaneously boosted in Mexico and USA, with the purpose of linking the youth of both nations by exalting and promoting common values.

Prior the clinic, the habitants of the neighborhood talked with State and Federal Authorities as well as with the boxers. Rhe Sub-Secretary of the Foreign Relationships Secretary, Paulo Carreño King, explained the importance of linking relations with Mexicans in the US.

On the other hand,  Guerrero´s Governor, Hector Antonio Astudillo Flores, thanked the presence of the WBC, the boxers David Diaz and Marcos Villasaña,  and the Foreign Relationships Ambassador, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, recognizing their dedication with the State of Guerrero.

In the end,  the mural “Boxing without frontiers”  was unveiled by its authors, Elisa “Rank” and David de Leon. In the mural the former WBC lightweight champion, David Diaz, stands; he is now living  permanently in Chicago.

In 2015, the state of Guerrero was the second one in Mexico with most migrant activity to the USA. It is estimated that more than 600,000 people from Guerrero live now in the US.

In attendance there were also Eunice Rendón Cárdenas, Director of the Foreign Mexicans Institute; Humberto Díaz Villanueva, Youth Secretary; Ernesto Escalona, Tourism Secretary; Miguel Salomon, from the World Boxing Council ; Javier Solorio, President of the REVICAM Institute, and Jorge Aceves, Delegate of the Foreign Relationships Secretary in Acapulco.
