Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol has appeared to be the goods through only 13 professional fights, and has even captured his first world title earlier this year in a dominant performance over Sullivan Barrera.
With Bivol (13-0, 11 KOs) now set to make his first title defense against Isaac Chilemba (25-5-2, 10 KOs) on August 4th in Atlantic City, our friends at Fight Hub TV were able to capture some training footage of Bivol in action.
Should Bivol successfully defend his WBA strap in this upcoming outing, which is mostly expected, there are some really compelling unification fights out there for him — particularly against fellow Russian titleholders Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev.
Bivol has mentioned that he would prefer not to have to face his fellow countrymen in order to become unified champion, but accepts the reality that those may be the biggest fights out there for him and says he’d be willing to take those fights if they’re in demand.
In the meantime Kovalev will be taking on Eleider Alvarez in the main event of the August 4th card Bivol is featured on, so their schedules are certainly aligned, and Beterbiev — who recently signed with Eddie Hearn — is currently set to face Callum Johnson on October 6.
