PHILIPPINES — WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight champion Jake “D’ Twins” Bornea of General Santos City will be fighting for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental flyweight title against London Olympian Andrew Selby on November 18 at the Wembly Arena in London.

The 21-year old Bornea has been preparing hard for this fight at the Sanman Gym in Gensan.

“I will do all I can to bring home the title. I dedicate this fight to Christ and my brothers and sisters of my Iglesia Ni Cristo congregation,” said Bornea, a twin brother of Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) flyweight champion Jade Bornea (6-0-0-4KOs).

Sanman Promotions chief executive officer Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, who is now handling the Bornea twins said that they also have studied the tapes and have been working on not just on Jake’s technique but his stamina as well.

Jake Bornea, who has a record of 11 wins with five knockouts against only one loss, has recently defended his title via a unanimous decision against Renerio Arizala last April 2 at the Oval Plaza gym in Gensan.

He fought but lost by a UD to Raymond Tabugon for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title last May 24, 2014 in Gensan. But after that first setback, Bornea bounced back by scoring five straight wins including a 4th round knockout victory against Richard Rosales on August 11, 2015 to capture the WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight crown.

Selby, 27, is still undefeated with six wins and four knockouts. He enjoys a three inches height advantage against the 5-foot-3 Bornea.

Selby won the vacant British Boxing Board of Control British flyweight title via a UD win over Louis Norman last May 14 at the Ice Arena in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.

The 5-foot-6 Selby previously stopped Felix Moncada of Nicaragua by a 5th round technical knockout last October 21 at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland.

His other past knockout victims were Brett Fidoe, Jozsef Ajtai and Haji Juma.

Selby lost to Cuba’s Robeisy Ramirez, 11-16 in the quarter-finals of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He won a silver medal in the 2011 World Amateur Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan and a bronze in 2013 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

He is a two-time European champion in 2011 and 2013. Selby, however, bowed to Filipino Violito Payla by a RSC-OS 3 in 2007 in Chicago, USA.

The Selby-Bornea title-fight is one of the triple championships to be presented by the Cyclone Promotions of Blain MgGuigan. It will be shown on United Kingdom Channel 5.

The two other championships will feature Conrad “Dynamite” Cummings (10-0-1-4KOs) of Northern Ireland against Ronny Mittag(28-2-1-14KOs) of Germany for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Middleweight title and George “Saint George” Groves (24-3-0-18KOs) of London to defend his WBA International Super Middleweight crown against challenger Eduard “Energy Eddy” Gutknetcht (30-4-1-13KOs) of Germany.
