BORRES, MARTIN ARE GAB BOXERS OF THE MONTH

PHILIPPINES – Jeronil “El Diamante” Borres and Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin are the Boxers of the Month for November and December, respectively of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Borres (8W-3L-1D, 5 KOs) of Cagayan de Oro City earned the monthly award for scoring an upset over reigning IBF Youth flyweight champion Robert Onggocan by a majority decision last November 10 at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Palawan to capture the vacant Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) flyweight crown.
The 22-year old Borres of Highland Boxing Gym in La Trinidad, Benguet will next fight unbeaten Junto Nakatani on January 20 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The 18-year old Martin (7W-0L, 6 KOs) of Ifugao, on the other hand, was cited for bagging the interim WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental bantamweight title by stopping Artid Bamrungauea via a 2nd round knockout last December 23 in Lagawe.
Meanwhile, newly-crowned WBC Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Glenn “The Rock” Porras is the honorable mention for winning his title by knocking out Indonesian Noldi Manakane in the 1st round last Nov. 25 at the UM Gym in Tagum City.
Porras (31W-6L-0D, 19 KOs) of MB NorthStar Boxing Stable in Panabo City is scheduled to fight already in a world title-eliminator against Mexican Emanuel Navarrete on January 20 in Mexico.
The monthly ratings was spearheaded by GAB Chairman Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra at the GAB main office.
