NEWLY-CROWNED Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) flyweight champion Jeronil “El Diamante” Borres of the Philippines and his unbeaten Japanese opponent Junto Nakatani both made their weights today for their non-title fight tomorrow (Jan. 20) at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Borres tipped the scales at 114.7 lbs. while Nakatani submitted 114.6 lbs.
They will be fighting for 8 rounds only in the undercard of the Japanese bantamweight championship between Ryo Akaho (31W-2L-2D) and Yusuke Suzuki (9W-3L-0D).
Borres (8W-3L-1D, 5 KOs) previously won the vacant ABF flyweight title via a majority decision against early favorite Robert Onggocan last Nov. 10 at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Palawan.
The 22-year old Borres is the Boxer of the Month for November by the Games and Amusements Board.
“Magaling daw yun kalaban, amateur style,” said Borrres.
Nakatani is still undefeated with 13 straight wins with 10 knockouts. He won all his four fights last year with three by knockouts.
The 20-year old Nakatani previously scored a 6th round technical knockout against Seigo Yuri Akui last August 30 at the Korakuen Hall.
