The Mayor of Mexico City Dr. Miguel Angel Mancera, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, Director of INDEPORTE, Horacio de la Vega, Dr. Armando Ahued, Secretary of Health and COMBOX President Ciro Nucci, presented the super active program “boxing for your health.”
It`s an initiative that aims to promote exercise by actively encouraging the population of Mexico City to blow away the cobwebs and get on the move! Mayor Mancera urged folk to start boxing through this innovative and fun initiative which starts at the Monument of the Revolution, today.
He commented that boxing is one of the most traditional sports in our country, nurtured, developed and risen up to global glory by the brilliant and dedicated life`s work of Don José Sulaimán.
He urged everyone attending to take care of themselves through sport, as this is the basis for a healthy, happy and productive life: “Boxing is today and forever will be a traditional sport.”
Health Secretary of Mexico City Dr. Armando Ahued explained that we need to realize that obesity and overweight is a national emergency, must be promptly combatted, because it generates a large number of degenerative diseases that can be prevented with a healthy diet and exercise.
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán says he`s very happy to see how boxing generates progress, motivates and unifies. He thanked Dr. Mancera for his commitment to boxing and predicted that the “Boxing for Your Health” program will be a resounding success which will encourage people of all ages.
Dr. Ahued, made an enticing proposal with the Head of Government acting as witness, to lose 15 kilos of weight by December. This is a proactive way of setting a tangible example.
Attending this memorable event were former world champions Ultiminio Ramos, Rafael Herrara, Pipino Cuevas, Daniel Zaragoza, Adrian Hernandez, Daniel Estrada, Ibeth Zamora and Jessica Gonzalez and heavyweight champion Alejandra Jiménez.
