PROMISING Michael “The Chieftain” Bravo of Panabo City is fighting Lyster Jun Pronco of Malaybalay City for the interim Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight title on November 25 at 6 p.m. at the UM Gym in Tagum City.
“Excited na rin po akong lumaban muli ng title fight,” said the 24-year old Bravo.
Bravo (12W-1L-0D, 5 KOs) is also the current Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation (MinProBA) light flyweight title holder. He won it via a 2nd round technical knockout against Armando Yee last Sept. 15 in Panabo.
“Napaka suerte ko po na mabigyan ng dalawang pagkakataon na lumaban ng titulo sa isang taon lamang po. Nagpapasalamat po ako na marami sa aking mabuting manager na si Engr. Jilson Basang,” said Bravo, a Bagobo native from Kidapawan City.
Bravo, however, is not taking Pronco for granted.
“Beterano kasi siyang boxer at mas lamang siya ng experience sa akin,” (Because he is a veteran boxer and he has more experience than me) said Bravo.
Pronco (9W-15L-1D, 6 KOs) has already fought in four separate championship fights. He first challenged PBF light flyweight champion Vergilio Silvano by was stopped in the 8th round via a technical knockout in 2012.
The following year, Pronco settled to a majority draw with Jether Oliva in their encounter for the vacant PBF light flyweight crown in Digos City.
In 2015, Pronco dropped a unanimous decision to Dexter Alimento for the vacant MinProBA minimumweight title in Bukidnon. On that same year, Pronco also bowed to Ronnie Tanallon by a UD for the PBF minimumweight crown in Glan, Sarangani Province.
The Bravo-Pronco tenner is one of the four championships to be featured in “The Redemption” boxing card co-promoted by the RATIM Sports Promotion and MB Northstar Promotion.
