THE Sanman Promotions is staging its inaugural boxing presentation for 2018 on January 21 with the “Brawl at the Mall: The 10th Edition” at the newly-renovated Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
This was announced yesterday by Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, Chief Executive Officer of the Sanman Promotions.
The main event will feature the unbeaten Jayson “Pitbull” Mama (8W-0L, 4KOs) of Barangay Bula, Gensan against Michael Camelion (10W-6L-1D, 8 KOs) of Malaybalay, Bukidnon for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific flyweight title.
“I think Jayson Mama will be the next big thing for the flyweight division in the Philippines,” said Manangquil, a recipient of 2016 Boxing Promoter of the Year award.
Mama is an amateur standout, who won gold medals in national competitions. His last gold medal harvest was in the Manny Pacquiao Mindanao Cup.
The 20-year old Mama said that he is now training hard at the Sanman Gym.
“I want to look impressive. My dream is to fight WBO flyweight champion Sho Kimura in the future,” said Mama, who thanked Sanman Promotions for the opportunity.
Mama won two of his three victories this year by knockouts. He first stopped Bimbo “Sniper” Nacionales (14W-15L-1D, 3 KOs) by a 2nd round technical knockout last Sept. 9 at the Polomolok Gym in Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Mama then pummeled to submission veteran Rodel “Hard Worker” Tejares (21W-45L-7D, 6 KOs) in the 6th round last Nov. 5 at the Robinsons Mall Atrium in Gensan.
Camelion, on the other hand, has also won his last two fights this year.
The 23-year old southpaw previously TKO’d Raymon Dayham in the 6th round last Nov. 28 at the Barangay Kitabog, Titay in Iligan.
He earlier knocked out Jherom Tuyor in the 3rd round last Sept. 28 at the Esperanza Municipal Grounds in Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.
Camelion fought but lost for the vacant WBA Pan African light flyweight title to Omari Kimweri by a unanimous decision last Feb. 26 at The Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington.
“I think this is a good fight for him (Mama). He is a great talent and very matured for his age,” said Manangquil.
The Brawl at the Mall: The 10th Edition will also feature Japanese female boxer-model and former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight champion Tomoni Takano (10W-3L-0D, 7 KOs) and undefeated American-Cuban Daniel “Raspy” Placeres (5W-0L, 4 KOs) of Miami, Florida.
“We will announce their respective opponents soon,” said Manangquil.
