History has been made at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand as Brazilian Rodrigues pulls off one of One Championship’s biggest upsets when she dethroned long-reigning Muay Thai champ Stamp Fairtex after a grueling five-round exchange of massive kicks and punches.
Albeit coming into the fight as an underdog, Allycia Rodrigues put up with her game plan and executed sharp knees and elbows into the start of the third round. Former champ Stamp started off the first two rounds punishing Rodrigues with her combinations while Allycia is just inching in the scorecards. Rodrigues’ hands were raised in a majority decision win.
Meanwhile, Filipino siblings Drex and Denice Zamboanga echoed what they really do inside the battleground as they both pulled incredible wins. Drex exchanged a couple of strikes with Thai Detchadin “Detchpool” Sornsirisuphathin in the first round and the start of the second round. He mixed with a few takedowns as he successfully delivered a one and took Detchpool’s back to execute a clean rare naked choke. Coming into the fight with her unblemished record, Denice showed authority as she dominated Thai national judo champion Watsapinya “Dream Girl” Kaewkhong to finish off with an Americana in the very first round.
In the opening bouts, Max Stadium Muay Thai Champion Yodkaikaew “Y2K” Fairtex displayed a masterful striking routine, to score a technical knockout over Alex Schild of the United States.
In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest, Kun Khmer World Champion Sok Thy of Cambodia proved himself worthy to be included in the roster of One Championship’s winner column when he delivered a beautiful body shot knockout of ONE Hero Series Muay Thai top prospect Huang Ding of China. 2-time Thai national Muay Thai Champion Wondergirl Fairtex recorded yet another remarkable victory when she stopped KC “Pinay Fight” Carlos of the United States and the Philippines in the second round when Wondergirl delivered a devastating elbow to KC’s nose.
The event was broadcast in more than a hundred and fifty countries.
The series returns on September 11 with new faces signing up with the network.
