Brian Viloria vs. Artem Dalakian in the works for “Superfly 2”

“Superfly 2” may feature some “super” flyweights alongside the super flyweights. K2’s Tom Loeffler, who is promoting the show, tells The Ring that a fight between Brian Viloria and Artem Dalakian for Kazuto Ioka’s former title is close enough to done that they “will be issuing press releases shortly.”

The pair are ranked #2 and #1, respectively, by the WBA at 112 pounds.

Viloria (38-5, 23 KO), who turned 37 last month, missed all of 2016 following his TKO loss to Roman Gonzalez in the Golovkin-Lemieux co-feature. He went 2-0 in 2017, beating Ruben Montoya in Mexico and Miguel Cartagena on the undercard of the first “Superfly.”

Dalakian (15-0, 11 KO) was Ioka’s mandatory challenger and is fairly unproven as a pro, but this looks like a more winnable fight for him on paper than Ioka would have been. 37 is ancient for flyweight and Viloria’s had consistency issues in the past.

That said, “Hawaiian Punch” can still, well, punch. This could be fun.
