The World Boxing Super Series semifinal cruiserweight bout, between World Boxing Council champion Mairis Briedis (23-0, 18 KOs), against Aleksandr Usyk (13-0, 11 KOs), will take place at THE Riga Arena in Latvia on January 27th.
Briedis, 32, thrilled thousands of fans at the Riga Arena in Latvia on September 30, when he defeated Cuban Mike Perez by unanimous decision. While the 2012 Olympic Champion, 30-year-old Usyk, is vowing to unify the cruiserweight belts and take home the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
The Ukrainian went to Berlin, Germany, on September 9th in the first match of the tournament, defeating local fighter Marco Huck. Now he will travel to Briedis’s back yard.
