Briggs: Nobody can beat Errol Spence

In this video interview caught by Fight Hub TV, heavyweight Shannon Briggs talks about some of the young up-and-comers in boxing.

Briggs on a potential Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford fight:

“Oh man…Terence Crawford is amazing…Right now I would give the edge to — you know what, again, that’s a pick ‘em for me. Both so tough, you know what I’m saying? It’s a hard one to pick to be honest with you.

“But I don’t like anybody fighting Errol Spence. Nobody can beat Errol Spence to me. Errol Spence is a dog. He’s a true, true, true, true dog. For real…We haven’t seen the best Errol Spence yet. And he young, and he disciplined.

“I know his trainer personally, since we was teenagers. He disciplined, he focused, he want it bad.

With that being the case, what does he make of Thurman wanting to put off a Spence fight for a while as he recovers from his elbow surgery:

“[Winks and smiles]. Let’s go champ!

“I think he definitely should, going into a fight with Errol…I believe in tune-ups, champ…It’s not many fighters who have been able to walk off the street, or after a year off, or three years off, and fight successfully and look good. De La Hoya was one, who I could believe throughout his career De La Hoya would be off and he come back and go right into a big fight. Ray Leonard was like that…There was only certain people like that.

“[Thurman] should definitely get those tune-ups first, ‘cause Errol ain’t nothing to play with.”
