AUSTRALIAN Trent Broadhurst stopped Shawn Miller of United States in the seventh round to capture the vacant IBF International Light Heavyweight title last August 20 at the Eatons Hill Hotel in Eatons Hill, Queensland, Australia.
Referee Derek Milham stopped the fight by a technical decision with all three judges scoring identical 70-62 in favour of Broadhurst.
It was the 18th victory and 11th knockout win by the 28-year old Broadhurst, who only has one loss, while the 34-year old Miller suffered his third defeat against 15 wins and one draw.
Broadhurst is also a former IBF Pan Pacific light heavyweight and WBA Oceania light heavyweight champion.
Meanwhile, April Adams retained her Australia-Queensland State female super bantamweight crown by stopping challenger Mel Baker in 1:43 of the second round.
The 28-year old Adams improved her record to four wins with one draw while it was only Baker’s pro debut.
The boxing card was promoted by Angelo Di Carlo of Ace Boxing Promotions and commissioned by the Australian National Boxing Federation Queensland.
