On the eve of the Sergey Kovalev-Andre Ward showdown, Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions held a fight card at the D Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas. In the main event, lightweight Demond “Body Shot” Brock (13-3, 4 KOs) from New Orleans edged Dominican Reynaldo “El Trampolin” Blanco (13-2, 7 KOs) in a competitive ten rounder. Brock pulled out a split decision 96-94, 96-94 on two cards while one judge had it 97-93 for Blanco.

Jr middleweight Norberto Gonzalez (23-8, 13 KOs) of Monterrey, won a split decision over Daniel Rosario Cruz (11-2, 10 KOs) of Puerto Rico in the co-main event. The Puerto Rican attacked from the beginning landing hard shots on Gonzalez. Rosario sent Gonzalez to the canvas with a pair of left hooks in round two. Pacing himself halfway through the bout Rosario boxed from a distance as Gonzalez landed big punches in pressing the action. Gonzalez put up a fight and took it to Rosario Cruz. Scores were 77-74 Rosario, 76-75 Gonzalez, and 76-75 for Gonzalez.

Super featherweight Randy Moreno (7-0, 6 KOs) of Las Vegas stopped Daniel Perales (7-6-1, 4 KOs) of Monterrey, Mexico in a scheduled six-rounder. Despite bleeding from his right ear, Moreno boxed patiently and he kept his distance measuring Perales following up with big shots. Moreno pressed the second half of the fight landing power punches and Perales’s corner had finally seen enough asking the referee to stop the fight at 1:37 of the fourth round.

The ladies were in action as Marina Natalie Gonzalez (3-0, 1 KO) scored a second round knockout over Marina Ramirez (2-1) in a scheduled four round junior flyweight bout. Gonzalez knocked Ramirez out cold with a right and the referee immediately waved it off at 1:18.

Son of former world champion Agapito Sanchez, bantamweight Juan Sanchez (2-0, 1 KO) of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Javier Cepeda (0-3) of Roswell, New Mexico went the distance in a scheduled four round bout. It was a fast-paced fight as Cepeda pressed with Sanchez being the slick and flashy fighter. In the end, the judges favored Sanchez 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37.

Cruiserweight Kenny Cruz (1-2-1, 1 KO) of Puerto Rico made quick work of Jason Beauchamp (0-1) in a scheduled four round bout. A hard right stunned Beauchamp as he was out on his feet Cruz followed up with a flurry forcing the referee to stop the fight at 1:11.

In the opening bout from the D Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas, pro debuting middleweight Shady Gamhour (1-0, 1 KO) of Pensacola, Florida by way of Sweden stopped David De La Cruz (0-1) in three rounds of a scheduled four round bout. A right hand followed by a flurry forced the referee to stop the fight at 1:54 of the third round.
