Two expected fights have been confirmed for the February 18 Showtime undercard in Cincinnati, a show headlined by Adrien Broner’s return against Adrian Granados in a 140-pound fight.
David Avanesyan (22-1-1, 11 KO) will defend the interim WBA “world” welterweight title against Lamont Peterson (34-3-1, 17 KO) in one of those fights. Avanesyan is coming off of a decision win over Shane Mosley, while Peterson has been out of action since October 2015, when he won a disputed decision over Felix Diaz.
Light heavyweight prospect Marcus Browne (18-0, 13 KO) will also be in action, as he’ll face former world title challenger Thomas Williams Jr (20-2, 14 KO) in a 10-round bout. This is a fight that promises fireworks, as Williams really only knows one way to fight, and both have shown defensive lapses.
Williams lost his last fight, via fourth round KO to Adonis Stevenson in July 2016. Browne was last seen in April 2016, winning a highly controversial decision over Radivoje Kalajdzic.
