Two-time world title challenger Tommy Browne (31-6-1, 11 KOs) clearly outscored Irish 160-pounder Joe Rea (10-29-5) over eight rounds of a NSW State title bout at the Wests Rugby Leagues Club, Campbelltown, Sydney, NSW, Australia on Friday night. Browne controlled the contest as he connected with accurate left jabs a solid right hands on his switch-hitting opponent. Rea attacked Browne at the start of round eight but Browne responded with a barrage of punches that had the Australia-based Irishman in trouble at the bell. Scores Gary Dean 79-73, George Plellis 78-74, Pat O’Connor 77-75.

On the undercard, former world title challenger Robert Medley (31-3, 20 KOs) was impressive stopping Tim Kanofski (13-9-1) at the conclusion of round four in a 168-pound contest scheduled for six rounds. Kanofski was dropped in round three and twice in round four and at the conclusion of the round Doctor Lou Lewis visited Kanofski’s corner and ruled him unfit to continue.

Also, Kenya-born and former 2000 Sydney Olympian Kariz Kariuki (26-11-2, 20 KOs) was extended by Tej Pratap Singh (7-2-2) who came to fight and forced the action consistently in all six rounds in a 175-pound bout that was ruled a draw. Scores 59-56, 57-57, 57-58.
