Busy Canelo returns on May 8

WBC super-middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Álvarez and the WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders, will clash on May 8th during the week of Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the United States.

The fight was made official by Matchroom Boxing and DAZN, after Canelo’s rapid-fire victory this Saturday in Miami.

Canelo defeated Avni Yildirim in three brief rounds at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami last Saturday. Late last year he dominated Callum Smith in San Antonio, Texas, to win the WBC title.
Saunders (30-0 14 KOs) is coming off defeating Martin Murray by decision.
