Former super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (32-3-1, 25 KOs) and WBC ranked No. 1, Eleider Alvarez (21-0, 10 KOs) passed the official weigh-in prior to their clash tonight at the Videotron Center in Quebec, Canada.
Bute hit the scales at 173.5 pounds, while Alvarez weighed 174.6 pounds.
The winner of Bute vs. Alvarez will be the mandatory challenger of light heavyweight champion, Adonis “Superman” Stevenson.
“Alvarez is a great challenger and we’re going fight hard in order to win and face Stevenson for the WBC championship. This is my dream and my goal,” said Bute.
Alvarez commented: “Bute is a good former champion, but this is my moment and I will defeat him. I have all the skills to become a world champion. “
