Former champion Lucian Bute is rising to the Light Heavyweight division looking for a fight against the champion, Canadian Adonis Stevenson, as long as he defeats Eleider Alvarez on Feb. 24 at the Videotron Center Arena in Quebec, Canada.
“Alvarez is a great challenge, we are going to fight an eliminatory bout to face Stevenson for the WBC championship. It`s an honor and a privilege to fight Alvarez and if I defeat him I will have the opportunity to fight for the green and gold belt to fulfil my dream, ” confided Bute.
“I was a champion at 168 pounds, but now I want to go up to 175 pounds. This is a division where I feel comfortable and I can do great things,” said Bute, who assures that the topic of doping was resolved as it consumed a contaminated supplement and NOT something, which was actually performance enhancing.
Colombian Eléider Alvarez says he`s undergoing a great preparation because he also dreams of being crowned world champion:
“I’m waiting impatiently for this fight with Bute. I spent the whole year working in the gym intensifying the preparation because Bute is complicated,” said Eléider, who has been living in Montreal for more than five years.
“There is no margin for defeat, I am a professional and I have prepared a lot of time for this very special moment.”
