DEFENDING International Boxing Organization (IBO) world super flyweight champion Gideon Buthelezi and his challenger Ryan Rey “Mr. Pogi” Ponteras from the Philippines both made their weights for their title fight slated on July 28 (July 29 in Manila) at the International Convention Centre in Eastern London of Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Buthelezi submitted 113.9 lbs. while Ponteras tipped the scales at 113.5 lbs.
“OK man iyang condition ug walay problema sa iyang timbang, (His condition is OK and he has no problem on his weight),” said Ponteras’ trainer Bruce Lerio.
The 4th Annual Madiba Boxing Celebration Event’s official weigh – in was held at East London’s ICC. The boxing event is promoted by the Xaba Promotions and Events in Partnership with Nelson Mandela Foundation, SABC, Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Premier Hotel.
