In the battle of the Calebs, unbeaten IBF Super Middleweight World Champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-0, 12 KO’s) completely outclassed and decisioned veteran Minnesota challenger 🇺🇸 Caleb “Golden” Truax (31-5-2, 19 KO’s) to retain for the third time his red ‘n golden world title belt tonight in Los Angeles in a Premier Boxing Champions promotion live on FOX.
Way too skilled and talented boxer was 🇺🇸 Caleb Plant, 28, for the 37-year-old Truax, beating and dominating him throughout the 12-chapter rumble, landing on him with clean and neat combinations as well as a whole variety of punches accompanied by slick offensive and defensive moves. 👍
Plant landed a number of power shots on Truax, however did not get to drop the strong veteran to the blue canvas, nor got him near ending him by KO.
It was a contrasts with his previous two world title defenses, in which the bearded Caleb Plant impressively stopped his challengers, fellow Americans 🇺🇸 Mike Lee and 🇺🇸 Vincent Feigenbutz. But not 🇺🇸 Truax tonight.
Might that be because Plant’s hand might have got hurt? “I feel that I hurt my hand during the fight. Can’t remember exactly in which round. I wanted the stoppage,” Caleb Plant assured during the post-fight interview. 😬
His hands should now be checked out. Still, it was an outstanding, flawless performance delivered by the undefeated champion Caleb Plant, for which he got awarded a complete well-deserved 120-108 win on points from the scorecards of the three ringside judges, Truax not winning not even one round. ✋🏼
“I am the best 168-pounder in the world,” added Plant. “I want to unify the weight-class. I get in the ring with Canelo or whoever and I knock him out here on FOX.”
Provided that his hand is tip-top, Caleb Plant may rumble against any super middleweight next. But Canelo is fully booked.
A possible unification war against the bankable 🇲🇽 Canelo might wait. If ever, it could unfold perhaps by the end of the year, or next year as the Mexican superstar is having a busy 2021, a Canelo’s third installment against Triple G is always a possible fight that boxing fans would love. I would.
As of now, the native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Canelo Álvarez (54-1-2, 36 KO’s) is set to defend against Turkish WBC mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim (21-2, 12 KO’s) in 4 weeks time in Miami; and then plan to unify against Briton WBO 168 world champion 🇬🇧 Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KO’s) in early May in Vegas.
