As expected, Frank Warren and co. are working to put together a second go-around after Caleb Truax’s shocking upset of James DeGale last month. Warren tells The Independent that, based on the money Team Truax is looking for, it will most likely take place in the U.S.
The contract had a rematch clause, so this isn’t too surprising, but it will certainly be interesting to see where this winds up landing.
Truax (29-3-2, 18 KO) was basically given no chance in hell against DeGale (23-2-1, 14 KO), being unranked and not too far removed from a 109-second stoppage loss to Anthony Dirrell. I myself called the matchup “straight-up garbage.” Instead, Truax used heavy pressure to force DeGale into some of his usual bad habits and eke out a narrow-but-deserved majority decision.
Early predictions? Was the first fight a fluke or a perfect exploitation of the faults DeGale just can’t quite excise?
