Super lightweight contender Pedro “La Roca” Campa (29-1, 20 KOs) scored a fifth round technical decision over Domicio Rondon (18-4, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Gimnasio de Los Trabajadores del Metro in Mexico City. Campa dominated the fight from start to finish. In round four, Campa suffered a huge cut over his left eye caused by a headbutt and referee Guadalupe Garcia deducted a point from Rondon. Garcia stopped the action in round five and the ring doctor ruled Campa couldn’t continue. Scorecards were 50-44 on all three cards.
“I felt very good,” said Campa afterward. “I was getting into a rhythm and was a bit surprised by my rival’s stamina, but I was doing my job. I’m happy and I hope to heal soon return to the gym and wait for what Zanfer and Fernando Beltran have in store for me.”
