Middleweight Ramon “Inocente” Alvarez (27-6-3, 16 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Nicolás Luques (15-5, 5 KOs) on Saturday night at the Gimnasio de Trabajadores del Metro in Mexico City.
Scores were 97-92, 96-93 and 98-91 for Alvarez, who is the older brother of boxing superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Alvarez dropped Luques in round three and almost stopped him, however, the action slowed after that.
In an upset, super featherweight Mauricio Lara (11-2, 6 KOs) was victorious when previously unbeaten Sergio Chirino (9-1, 4 KOs) was unable to continue at the beginning of the third round due to a deep cut on the bridge of the nose.
