Caoimhin Agyarko has made a winning start to his professional boxing career.
The Belfast middleweight made his bow in Essex this evening and scored a dominant win.
Opening Queensberry’s Anthony Yarde v Walter Sequeira card at the Brentwood Centre, Agyarko scored a six-round points triumph over Slovak veteran Ladislav Nemeth.
The West Belfast 21-year-old linked up with Frank Warren in both a managerial and promotional capacity at the end of the summer, relocating to the iBox Gym in London.
Having impressed in the five-round World Series of Boxing, it was decided that Agyarko would make a progressive start and debuted in a six rounder, skipping the four round stage entirely.
The Holy Trinity BC graduate, a short-notice winner of the 2018 Elite light heavyweight title, boxed smart throughout the 18 minutes to take a wide win on the scorecard and make a smooth start to pro life.
The inaugural win sees Agyarko start his professional record off at 1(0)-0 while the solid Nemeth drops to 11(5)-53(16)-9.
The Ulster youngster will be keen to return to the ring as soon as possible and a spot on the Josh Warrington v Carl Frampton undercard at the Manchester Arena on December 22nd has been suggested.
The win for Agyarko kicks off a major night for Irish boxing, with Katie Taylor defending her WBA and IBF lightweight titles and James Tennyson challenging for the IBF super featherweight belt on the same show in Boston. This bill also features Niall Kennedy and Sean McComb while Mick Conlan is in action in Las Vegas and Mike Perez is out in Orlando.
