MEDELLIN, Northern Cebu   —   The beautiful seaside town of Medellin in ocean bathed Northern Cebu got thrilled with exciting boxing on Easter Sunday (April 21), and fight fans want more of the same as soon as possible.

In the evening’s main attraction, hard-hitting super featherweight Rhonvex Capuloy (5-1, 3 KO’s) of the Big Yellow Stable landed a unanimous decision win over tough 19-year-old Mel Anthony Ando (1-4, 0 KO’s) of Mandaue’s Fil-Aust Gym in the open air card organized by veteran Cebuano man of boxing Lorenzo “Chao” Sy.

Throughout the combat, the 22-year-old Capuloy   —   trained by coach Christoper “PingPing” Tepora   —   made good use of his superior boxing skills, size, and power to completely dominate a largely neutralized Ando.   Identical scores of 40-36 were rendered by the three judges.

Jerry Ambrad enters pro boxing with a unanimous decision win in Medellin

In the co-feature, local Medellin fighting kid Jerry Ambrad (1-0, 0 KO’s) shined in his pro boxing debut in front of family and barkada, controlling the more experienced Kervent Aresco (0-3, 0 KO’s) from the nearby town of Carmen.  Jerry Ambrad’s four-chapter unanimous decision win was in the 108-pound division.

Moreover, rookie welterweight Elmer Naason (1-0, 1 KO) of the Big Yellow Stable vaporized in 21 seconds rugged warrior Wilbert Rota (0-7, 0 KO’s of Compostela, Cebu, for a knock out triumph in the very first round.

The fallen Wilbert Rota has fought seven times, losing all of his seven battles in tough knockouts.

Really, it would be good for the nice guy Wilbert to consider if he needs to go on in boxing, jeopardizing his health.     Wilbert devastating knock out lost tonight was not too nice to witness.    More important is his health.
