It’s official. Carl Frampton’s ring return on November 18 at the SSE Arena in Belfast will come against Horacio Garcia, reported by RingTV. The fight is scheduled as a 10-round featherweight contest that will air on BoxNation and BT Sport in the U.K.
This will mark Frampton’s first fight since losing his WBA featherweight title to Leo Santa Cruz at the top of the year. Meanwhile Garcia (33-3-1, 24 KOs), is most recently coming off of a stoppage win over Diuhl Olguin last month before dropping a decision to him just a couple of months prior.
“This is a fight that really excites me,” said Frampton. “Garcia will definitely come and have a go. He’s a typical Mexican warrior. He’s tough and he’s game and he’ll try and put it on me in front of my home crowd.
“This fight has been a long time coming and it’s good to be back out in Belfast topping a double world title bill. It’s a great bill, probably the best bill that Ireland has ever seen. I don’t think people will criticize me too much for saying that. It’s a quality bill and to be topping it is a huge honor.”
This ‘quality bill’ will also feature Jamie Conlan taking on Jerwin Ancajas for his IBF junior bantamweight title and WBO bantamweight titilist Zolani Tete making a defense against Siboniso Gonya.
