Carlos Condit: ‘Maybe my time has passed’

Carlos Condit’s slump continued this past Saturday, and the former UFC interim welterweight champion has doubts about what’s next for him.

In the co-main event of UFC on FOX 29 in Glendale, Ariz., “The Natural Born Killer” was submitted by Alex Oliveira in round two, resulting in his fourth consecutive loss. The 33-year-old is just 2-7 in In his past nine outings dating back to November 2012.

Condit wrote an Instagram post on Monday evening to give an update on his status:

“I’ve posted plenty of pictures looking like a badass. Triumphant and powerful,” Condit wrote of his experience after being forced tap out to a guillotine choke on Saturday. “But here’s the flip side, crumpled and weak in defeat. Rough day at the office.”

Condit doesn’t sound completely discouraged as he added that he enjoyed the fight and showed respect to Oliveira and his team, especially since “Cowboy” stepped in on short notice. However, he acknowledged that their was uncertainty concerning when or if he will fight again.

“I don’t know what’s next guys,” Condit wrote. “I still love this game, and most days I still feel that fire, I absolutely love what I do, but maybe my time has passed.

“I don’t know the answer. This is what I know, this is my passion. I will never stop training, and if that leads me back to the Octagon, you know I’ll try to make it bloody for ya.”

Since making his pro debut in September 2002, Condit has compiled a 30-12 record that includes an interim title victory via unanimous decision over Nick Diaz at UFC 143.

Condit’s originally scheduled opponent for UFC on FOX 29, “The Immortal” Matt Brown, hasstated he would still like to fight Condit when he recovers from the injury that forced his withdrawal from Saturday’s bout.
