Carls John de Tomas is going to have to wait a while for another shot at his first UFC win.

The 21-year-old has accepted a one-year suspension after testing positive for furosemide in an in-competition drug test tied to his bout at UFC Fresno in December, the USADA announced Monday. Furosemide appears on the banned substances list of “Diuretics and Masking Agents” and is prohibited year-round.

The California State Athletic Commission has issued a concurrent one-year suspension along with a $2,500 fine.

De Tomas will be eligible to return to competition on Dec. 29, 2018.

A native of the Philippines, De Tomas is 0-2 under the UFC banner after winning his first six pro bouts, with losses to Alex Perez and Naoki Inoue. He has also struggled with the scale, missing weight in his UFC debut and being forced to compete in a bantmweight bout against Perez when the CSAC ruled during the UFC Fresno fight week that De Tomas could not safely cut to 125 pounds.
