IBF flyweight champion John Riel Casimero (23-3, 15 KOs) of the Philippines turned back the title bid of upstart British challenger Charlie Edwards (8-1, 3 KOs) with a tenth round TKO on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London. A bout that Casimero had taken over in abruptly ended when Casimero dropped Edwards with a crushing left hook. Two more world title fights to come…
Undercard Results:
Unbeaten WBC #1, IBF #5 super middleweight Callum Smith (21-0, 16 KOs) was victorious when Norbert Nemesapati (21-4, 16 KOs) didn’t come out for round seven. Smith, in command all the way, dropped Nemesapati with a huge body shot in round six. Nemesapati survived the round, but couldn’t continue after the break.
Super featherweight Martin J Ward (15-0-2, 8 KOs) claimed the vacant British title with an eighth round TKO over Andy Townend (16-4, 11 KOs)
Former super middleweight world title challenger Paul Smith (38-6, 22 KOs) scored a fifth round KO against Daniel Regi (28-14, 15 KOs). Smith dropped Regi five times.
Welterweight Conor Benn 4-0, 3 KOs) stopped Joe Ducker (0-2-1) in round two. Duck down three times. Benn is the son of Bristish ring legend Nigel Benn.
Unbeaten WBC #2 super bantamweight Gavin McDonnell (16-0-2, 4 KOs) outpointed Robin Zamora (6-3, 3 KOs) over eight rounds.
Unbeaten featherweight Kid Galahad (20-0, 11 KOs) halted Emiliano Salvini (17-24-2, 2 KOs) in round four.
