Argentinean Brian Castano retained the regular WBA Super Welterweight championship when he drew with Cuban Erislandy Lara after 12 vibrant rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Castano and Lara staged a battle of high skill and left the table set for a possible rematch. Brian took a card in his favor by 115-113, while Erislandy took another by 115-113, and a third judge decreed 114-114 for the final draw result.
With this result, Brian improved to 15-0-1 with 11 knockouts, while Lara’s record now stands at 25-3-3 with 14 knockouts of the Cuban, who was trying to regain the WBA Super Welterweight championship after losing it to Jarrett Hurd last year.
On the undercard, former WBA Heavyweight Interim Champion Luis ‘King King’ Ortiz defeated Romanian Christian Hammer by unanimous decision, while Eduardo Ramirez knocked out Bryan de Gracia in nine rounds to win the Gold Championship of the WBA at featherweight.
