India’s professional boxing will witness a historic event, as a World Boxing Council endorsed Indian Championship fight will take place for the first time between the country’s two best lightweight female fighters, namely Chandni Mehra and Suman Kumari.
The match presented by LZ Promotions India will take place on Saturday at the CWE Academy in Jalandhar, India.
“This is a big step for professional boxing in India. I always believed that India has enormous potential in both male and female professional boxing alike. My goal is to build a platform for boxers to establish themselves. My vision is to promote India’s first World Boxing Champion (male and female).
“I would like to thank the WBC for believing in my vision of advancing professional boxing and especially giving Indian female boxers the same respect and opportunities as their male counterparts. “, said Parm Goraya, CEO of LZ Promotions.
While the professional boxing scene in India is still in its early stages, the sport has an avid audience and a large following in the country and has been growing exponentially.
