Eastern promise for Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, who’s pledging his training camp to Japan, rather than Costa Rica.

“We will be in Nicaragua for a few days, but then we will return to Japan to do the training camp. The team will be the same, Wilmer Hernández is in charge, since Arnulfo Obando died,” commented Carlos Blandón, Manager of Roman, in an ESPN interview.

Roman rematch with Thai Srisaket Sor Rungvisai for the the World Boxing Council super flyweight title on September 9 in Carson, California.

Román’s team will also be joined by the prestigious Japanese coach Sendai Tanaka, who has worked with great champions like Marco Antonio Barrera and Jorge Linares.

“Sendai will also be helping. More than a team we feel like a family, and the objective is to do what is necessary so we can get a clear victory on September 9,” stressed Blandon.

“Román is very happy in Japan, as it’s like his second home. This will be his second camp here here. We prepared here when Roman faced Akira Yaegashi for his third crown on September 5, 2014 and we did it very well.”
