Undefeated WBC middleweight champion, American Jermall Charlo, will defend his title against Mexican contender, Juan Macias Montiel, on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Charlo has established as one of the strongest champions of today and will be looking to thrill all the attending crowd in his hometown. The champion will fight in Houston for the fourth time as a professional and will seek to keep his undefeated record plus defending his WBC green and gold crown one more time.
Both star fighters participated in the last press conference prior getting into the ring.
“This Saturday there will be fireworks. It will be a celebration. Ronnie Shields and I have a chance to do it again. I am working hard to show all the work that I have put in for so many years. It is a dream come true to be able to fight in my city. It’s going to be a great night of boxing,” said Charlo.
“We are focused on having a great performance. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we are taking it as such, with a lot of dedication and discipline. I am ready to be the new WBC world champion,” said Macias Montel.
For this fight, the WBC has created the Freedom Belt, a special recognition to commemorate “Juneteenth”, a date that remembers and honors the day slavery was abolished in the state of Texas.
This special commemorative belt will be presented to the winner of the match, which is presented by TGB Promotions and PBC.
The evening, which will also feature a war between Mexicans Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Francisco “Bandido” Vargas.
The card will be broadcast for the United States on SHOWTIME. While ESPN KNOCK OUT will do so in Latin America.
