As Jermell Charlo gets ready to defend his WBC junior middleweight title against the young-but-highly-touted Erickson Lubin this weekend, FightHub comes through with some footage of Charlo during an open workout session.
Above you can catch Charlo shadowboxing and hitting the mitts, body shield, and heavy bag as he refines his craft for this mandatory title defense. Charlo (29-0, 14 KOs) appears to be in great shape and is riding three consecutive knockout wins — most recently stopping Charles Hatley in six rounds in April.
His opponent, 22-year-old Erickson Lubin, has been a blue chip prospect for some years now but appears ready to vie for his spot at the top of the division. That said, Charlo is a huge step up in competition for Lubin, who is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Jorge Cota in March. Is it too soon for Lubin? We’ll find out for sure this weekend, but it’s definitely an interesting match-up on paper.
