CHARLO TWINS Win TWO WBC Titles in a Single Night

Connecticut, USA-The Charlo twins made yet another splash at the Mohegan Sun Casino when both took home a world title each.

Older of the two, Jermall Charlo defended his World Boxing Council World Middle title against top Ukrainian contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a unanimous decision. Jermall’s professional record boasts an unblemished 31 wins while handing Derevyanchenko his third loss in his 16-fight record. Jermall is still a champion in two weight classes.

Younger brother Jermell showed the world his smash powers sending Jeison Rosario down the canvass with multiple body shots in rounds 1,3 and 8 to capture in unification the World Boxing Association Super World Super Welter Title International Boxing Federation World Super Welter title.

Two years after suffering his first defeat in December of 2018, Jermell came off from a two-win streak before the aforementioned win while the fighter from Dominican Republic came from a 6-win streak since his first loss in April 2017.

The Charlo twins from Texas both had their professional boxing debut in 2008 and 2007 respectively.

American Daniel Roman took home a unanimous decision against Juan Carlos Payano of the Dominican Republic in their Super Bantam duel.

Brandon Figueroa’s maneuvers saw him a technical knock out in the 10th round to defend his World Boxing Association World Super Bantam belt against fellow American Damien Vasquez. Figueroa’s pro records has yet to see a loss after his last fight against Julio Ceja in November last year resulted in a draw while giving Vasquez his second loss.

Mexico’s Luis Nery showcased a scintillating performance to convince all judges to hand him the vacant World Boxing Council World Super Bantam title. Nery’s perfect record at 31 wins gave fellow Mexican Aaron Alameda his first loss in his 25-win streak career. Nery is the current number 2 while Alameda is at number 8 in the Mexican Super Bantamweight active warriors.

Filipino pride John Riel Casimero came and showed what he was made of when he presented Ghanaian Duke Micah his first loss for the World Boxing Organisation World Bantam. Casimero’s power proved too powerful for the Ghanaian former Olympian when Filipino Quadro Alas dropped him in the third round of their scheduled 12-round bout. Casimero taunted Japanese champion Naoya Inoue adding if the latter will not fight him next, he is willing to fight Rigondeaux or Nery next.

In the opening bout, Russian Bakhram Murtazaliev remains undefeated after a fourth-round TKO against American Manny Woods in their 10-round duel. Murtazaliev’s 18 wins saw a 14 knock-out wins with 4 by unanimous decision.
