ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has hinted a superstar signing from Japan could be in the works for the ONE Super Series roster.
At the ONE: A NEW ERA post-event press conference on Sunday, 31 March, Sityodtong was asked by the media about the possibility of signing Tenshin Nasukawa to face Rodtang “Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.
According to members of the press, the 21-year-old Thai superstar – who defeated Hakim Hamech by unanimous decision earlier in the night at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo – said he was determined to face Tenshin in ONE.
The young martial artists faced off in Japan in June last year, and Rodtang is determined to avenge the defeat he suffered via decision after an extension round.
Although Tenshin – who is one of Japan’s biggest martial arts stars – is not a member of the ONE roster, Sityodtong suggested the 20-year-old could become a part of the world’s largest martial arts organization after speaking with him.
“Tenshin was in the audience in the first row, and he has definitely expressed his opinion – privately and publicly – that he would like to join ONE Championship,” Sityodtong said.
“He does want to face Rodtang again, so I’m very excited to hold that fight in the future.”
