Nicaraguan 4-division world champion Román “Chocolatito” González can’t wait to face Mexican Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada, current super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and Super Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), on March 5 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California, headlining a Matchroom Boxing card, with a DAZN broadcast

It would be the third match between the two, with a victory for each.
The last time they met was on March 13 in Dallas, Texas, with the Mexican winning in a questioned result.

The controversial outcome of his second fight, which occurred on March 13 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, required this third fight for the WBC and WBA 115-pound championships.

The 33-year-old Chocolatito” comes to this fight with a record of 50-3, with 41 knockouts; while the “Gallo” Estrada (31) will do it with 42-3, 28 knockouts.

They were scheduled to meet for the third time on October 16. But González contracted Covid-19 and their match was postponed.

Then, the WBC elevated Estrada from world champion to franchise champion to allow him to fight Gonzalez for the third time, rather than making a mandatory defense of his WBC belt against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.

His rematch, one of the best action fights of 2021, came more than eight years after González defeated Estrada by unanimous decision in their 12-round fight for González’s WBA light flyweight world title.

González defeated Estrada by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 in that November 2012 fight in Los Angeles.
