As Chris Eubank Jr. continues to target a fight against Gennady Golovkin, he will need to hammer out a deal with Sky Sports to hold the fight in London this September.

Chris Eubank Jr. made pretty easy work out of Tom Doran this weekend, which was mostly expected, and with him now looking towards a dangerous fight against Gennady Golovkin, there’s some business dealings to hash out. Specifically, Eubank Jr. and promoter Eddie Hearn will hold a meeting today in an attempt to get Sky Sports on board with the fight quickly so they can line it up for London in September. Here’s what Hearn had to say to ESPN on the topic:

“If it’s the right deal it could happen in September. Wembley is where we would like to stage it, or the O2,” said Hearn.

“No one is queuing up to fight Glolovkin. Canelo [Saul Alvarez] has lost face, Billy Joe Saunders didn’t want it. There seems to be only one world class fighter who is a big enough name who’s prepared to fight him.”

Meanwhile, Chris Eubank Sr. is putting the onus complete on Sky, saying that if the fight doesn’t end up coming off, it’s because of the network. Even still, Eubank Jr. is hopeful that the fight will come together quickly, stating that he has something special in store for GGG.

“The only way to beat someone like Golovkin is to do unconventional things. I’ve got some nice tricks up my sleeve for him.”

I can’t imagine that Sky Sports is going to end up standing in the way of making this fight happen – as it should be a pretty big deal domestically – but we’ll keep you posted as things move along.
