The 26-year-old German dethroned “KO” Kali Reis Saturday night in front of 3,500 fans at the Ballhausforum in Munich, Germany. “Lady” Hammer,  who also holds the WBO title, dominated the fight making good use of her height and reach advantage as well as her excellent footwork.
The smaller Reis was very aggressive from the opening bell until its final toll. She kept moving forward and had her moments landing hard hooks to her opponent’s head and body. But for most of the ten rounds Hammer managed to maintain measured distance, establish her jab and fight well from the outside. After ten entertaining rounds judges Ed Pearson (Canada) and Fernando Laguna (Spain) scored the bout 98-93 while Grzegorz Molenda (Poland) saw it as a clear shutout 100-90, all in favor of Hammer.
“I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time”, said Hammer after her win. “Like every fighter in the world I dreamed of becoming a WBC World Champion and winning the Green and Gold Belt. This is a very special moment for me. I thank all my fans and my team for the fantastic support.”
As new and proud WBC Champion Christina Hammer will come to the 54th Annual WBC Convention in Hollywood, Florida.
