World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt is training hard, bar nothing, to defend his crown on July 15 against former world champion Takashi Miura.
The champion offered a “Straight to Jail” special training session in the Social Readaptation Center of Hermosillo, Sonora, where he hopes to support the young prisoners to return to the path of good.
“It’s extremely important to support these events and to motivate the kids to be better people, making them see and realize that with work and discipline, dreams are fulfilled,” said Berchelt.
After training term at the Hermosillo penitentiary in Sonora, Mexico, “Alacrán” the verdict was inspiring and Miguel was presented with a recognition from the prison authorities.
As for his next fight the champion pledged: “We are doing a very thorough camp. It’s a real tough fight against Miura, but we’re focused on winning, making our first successful defense and working hard on sparring plus weight training sessions. ”
“It’s going to be a hard, demanding and exacting fight. So maybe, it won’t go the entire distance. Nevertheless, we are preparing for the full 12 rounds and to defeat Miura, come what may.”
