Keen to whip and scoop the cream of the current crop, Hiroto Kyoguchi, an undefeated 23 year old, has a promising fledgling record of six fights, all won by KO. He became OPBF minimum champion on February 28 by stopping Filipino veteran Armando de la Cruz In the third round.
Kyoguchi explained he`s happy to have won his first title. He however respectfully stresses his sights are set yet higher, as he`s aiming for the world green and gold belt.
Hiroto knows that this latest important triumph puts him on collision course for the world championship and that the OBPF title is the platform that many fighters have primarily ascended, in order to achieve their dreams. One famous example is Philippine idol Manny Pacquiao, who in June 1997 won the OPBF crown in the flyweight division against Chokchai Chockvivat and a year later, on December 4, 1998 he would have reach his first WBC world title by beating Chatchai Sasakul.
Hiroto Kyoguchi joins the elite list of fighters born in the Japanese archipelago, who quickly stood out as prodigies, for their enormous championship talent. Hiroki Ioka, after just eight fights became WBC monarch of the minimumweight division defeating Mai Thomburifarm by UD.
Kazuto Ioka who conquered the World on February 11, 2011, specifically in his seventh fight, when won the WBC minimumweight belt against Kittipong Jaigrajang.
And most spectacularly, Naoya Inoue, who in his fifth professional fight captured the light flyweight belt of the OPBF against Jerson Mancio, a conquest that months later earned him the rapid fire, sure fire opportunity to fight brilliant and rugged Mexican Adrian Hernandez, defeating him by knockout to become the WBC light flyweight champion.
