LILOAN, Cebu   —    Omega Sports Promotions deliver to fans an exciting evening of boxing last weekend, featuring five action clashes that did not fail to thrill and entertain.   The results are all here:

Vicelles celebrates his close, hard-fought victory over Espinas. The referee was Tony Pesons.

In a very close, exciting main event clash, unbeaten 23-year-old Mark Vicelles (11-0, 5 KO’s) of Cebu’s Omega Boxing Gym edged the more experienced Jesse Espinas (19-4, 11 KO’s) via majority decision to claim the WBA ASIA SOUTH Light Flyweight title.

ALA fighter “Joy Joy” Formentera delivers a tough right to Laurio’s bodega

In the co-feature, ALA Gym super flyweight fighter Manuel “Joy Joy” Formentera (11-3, 6 KO’s) of Camotes Islands brutalized in less than three minutes “Prince” Andro Bello Laurio (10-3-1, 7 KO’s) of Masbate.

Five. The brave Laurio listens the count from PBO-CV star referee Nic Banal.

“Joy Joy” Formentera full of joy celebrates victory with barkada and friends.

Hard body shots and big blows to the head quickly did the damage, forcing star referee Nic Banal to waive the fight off.

The wardog Tomjune is again showing his teeth winning by points over Joffrey Garcia.

In featherweights, Omega’s “Wardog” Tomjune Mangubat (11-1-1, 9 KO’s) successfully came back to the winning column by scoring an eight-round unanimous decision win over unheralded southpaw Joffrey Garcia (6-11-4, 5 KO’s) of Albay Province.

Even with a cut over his right eye, the brave Garcia kept coming forward, claiming some rounds, though it was clear that Tomjune was the better man.

Tomjune, 21, looked light years better than in his prior battle at Parkmall.  However, there is a lot he needs to improve, such as fighting with the mouth close and making use of the jab as an important fighting weapon.   The third man in charge was PBO-CV star referee Romar Kristoffer Embodo.

After fighting, we are friends. Apolinar with his coach Julius Junco (L) and his foe Rey Ramos

In another featherweight clash, Peter Apolinar (10-1, 7 KO’s) of San Pablo, Laguna, scared his teammates and fans by taking a tough knockdown during the action of round 2 (see main photo above).

A sharp right hook sent by Renan “Rey” Ramos sent the Omega “Thunder” down to the grey mat.   But two chapters later Apolinar stopped Ramos (8-12-2, 3 KO’s) of Cainta, Rizal Province for round four TKO victory.

Take that, Bacaro!!! Rotilles (R) scores a right hook to Bacaro’s head Saturday in Liloan

In the first bout of the evening, Omega Kid Carlo Bacaro (4-0, 4 KO’s) scored his fourth knock out in his fourth fight, dismantling brave Boholano underdog Mark Anthony Rotilles (2-5, 1 KO).   The rumble had its share of non-intentional headbutts, which produced a cut on Rotilles.

The battle ended when the bleeding and exhusted Rotilles did not come out from his corner for the action of the chapter six.

Carlo Bacaro (4-0, 4 KO’s) happy with teammates and friends, celebrating his TKO win

#Kumbati3 last weekend in Liloan, Cebu, was a production of Omega Sports Promotions in association with Pocari Sweat Sports Drink, Effiascent Oil, Bioderm Sabon, Magic 92.3 FM DYBN Cebu, and Omega PainKiller.
