Khabib Nurmagomedov turned in a dominant showing against Edson Barboza at UFC 219, winning 30-25, 30-25, and 30-24 on the three scorecards, making it the most lopsided three-round point differential (16) in the history of the UFC. Nurmagomedov is a perfect 25-0 in his MMA career, and all eyes are now on whether he’ll face one of Tony Ferguson or Conor McGregor next.
To kick off 2018, the UFC lightweight champ McGregor fired off a tweet that didn’t refer to Khabib by name, but was obviously about him. Evidently, the Irishman wasn’t wowed by Nurmagomedov’s beatdown of Barboza.
That Dagestani was dog shit the other night you’s are all nuts. Game full of sloppy bums asking to be slept. Pay me my worth and Kings back.
McGregor then tweeted several more times, including this mock-up pic of him throwing a kick towards Floyd Mayweather, before returning to an all-too-familiar “beg me” theme.
Truly truly truly get on your fucking knees and beg me. Otherwise I don’t give a bollox.
My whiskey is out this year and thats Diddy bread.
And that’s Diddy bread on top of already Diddy bread.
McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since winning the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez by second-round TKO in November 2016. He then embarked on a quest to actually box Floyd Mayweather in the richest fight in combat sports history, got the fight he desired, but did lose by 10th round TKO in their August 26th pay-per-view in Las Vegas.
Despite speculation that McGregor may never fight in MMA again, he recently told TMZ Sports that he would like to have a “true fight” next. He says he’s passionate about fighting, and that there’s “still a lot left in me” to compete.
Meanwhile, Khabib has (rather humorously) responded to McGregor’s comments on his own Twitter account.

Dana White is hopeful that McGregor returns by this summer.
