Conor McGregor has crude response to Tony Ferguson pulling out of UFC 223

Once interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson withdrew from his upcoming fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223, it was only a matter of time until “The Notorious” shared his thoughts.

It took less than 24 hours for Conor McGregor — still officially the UFC’s undisputed lightweight titleholder — to take to social media and address the news of Ferguson bowing out of Saturday’s main event due to an injury, and he did so in direct and insulting fashion.

These fools pull out more times than I do with my dick.

McGregor’s tweet is in reference to the many setbacks that Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have faced in trying to set up a meeting in the Octagon. UFC 223 marked the fourth time that the two lightweight stars were scheduled to fight and the fourth time that an injury or other malady prevented to one of the competitors prevented the bout from occurring.

UFC president Dana White had been hyping the Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov match as a battle for 155-pound supremacy, though he has yet to outright strip McGregor of his share of the crown despite the Irishman not making the walk to the Octagon since November 2016.

Both Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have commented on this latest spot of bad luck, but neither McGregor nor his longtime rival Nate Diaz appear to have much sympathy.

Another former McGregor nemesis, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has stepped up on less than a week’s notice to replace Ferguson and battle Nurmagomedov in what is still being billed as a lightweight title fight.
